Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels contain solar photo cells that convert
sun’s energy to Direct Current (DC) electricity. Decades ago this technology
for high energy production was something we could only see on TV and magazine
photos used by satellites and space stations. Only PV cell that came in common
use was the inch long solar cell in the humble pocket calculator. Well now
everyone can have a high energy production photo voltaic solar system on their
roof!
A PV-Direct system is a very simple solution which has no batteries to
store excess energy and is not connected to the main power grid. The solar
panels produce DC current feeding it to a simple solar inverter or Charge Controller,
just like the electricity coming out of the main grid power socket. With this
system you use what the sun currently gives and during cloudy days and at night
there is no power available. Although these are simple to build and cheap to
maintain, the modern household, agricultural or industrial enterprise demand a
more reliable solution.
